Final two pandemic-delayed BTO projects completed: HDB

Apartment homeowners of Punggol Point Cove (Phase 2) have been obtaining the keys to their brand-new residence since November 2024, while key collection for Kempas Residence started in mid-January this year.

In 2024, HDB completed a total of 22 housing ventures, 17 of which were put off by the pandemic. With the exemption of one that was postponed because of non-pandemic reasons, the remaining 4 house plans were finished promptly.

Minister for National Development Desmond Lee has announced the finalization of the final 2 pandemic-delayed projects from HDB, according to a Jan 20 launch.

As at Jan 15, 657 homes or 59% of 1,109 booked units have picked up their keys.

The 22 housing projects consisted of two Shorter Waiting Time (SWT) ventures, that were finished within a waiting period of much less than three years. The SWT projects, Parc Glen at Tengah and Grove Spring at Yishun, made up a total amount of 1,995 apartments.

As at Jan 15, 37 houses or about 7% of 555 reserved units have collected their keys.

Placed throughout New Punggol Road, Punggol Point Cove (Stage 2) makes up 1,179 units of two-room flexi, 3-, four- and five-room flats all over six home blocks. Following pandemic problems, the project’s last block was completed twelve month from its first Probable Completion Date (PCD) at an earlier time this month.

According to HDB, the conclusion of Punggol Point Cove (Phase 2) denotes the completion of all apartments in the Punggol Point District. This includes Punggol Point Cove (Stage 1), Punggol Point Woods and Punggol Point Crown BTO projects, that were finished in 2024.

The final block, that was postponed by six months from its first PCD, was completed in mid-January.

Located between Serangoon Roadway, Lavender Road and Boon Kheng Road, Kempas Residences BTO project has 583 units of two-room flexi, three-, four-room apartments throughout four residential blocks.

The two Build-to-Order (BTO) projects, Punggol Point Cove (Phase 2) and Kempas Residences, note the completion of HDB’s pandemic-delayed real estate projects. As a whole, the 92 plans have provided over 75,800 brand-new flats to Singaporeans over the last five years.

The remaining projects had waiting times of up to 5 years. In general, over 18,000 flats were carried out in 2024, claims HDB.

Currently, 110 HDB housing jobs are under development, up from 95 a year ago due to the increase in BTO supply in recent years. HDB says it is on track to complete around 17,000 flats across 27 plans in 2025.

HDB is anticipated to notify the remaining flat owners of their key collection date soon, following the completion of the last blocks just within both projects this month.
